The Smart House

The Smart House range of kit homes is the most efficient of any of our homes, making them the most popular SALA Homes. Each Smart House is designed to be placed on the east-west axis of the block which works to reduce heat gain during the summer months and allows the house to be warmed by the winter sun. They have been designed to maximise air flow within the house, helping to ensure that the Smart Houses should never require air conditioning.

As with all SALA Homes, the Smart House range of homes only use plantation timbers and low VOC glues and paints.

The Smart House range of homes was designed with Owner Builders in mind and can easily be built by any competent Owner Builder. Tip: many banks have special terms for owner builders – please check with your financial institution.

The first Smart Houses were designed in conjunction with Michael Mobbs from Sydney’s Sustainable House. The initial designs have been refined over time to produce a highly energy and water efficient kit home that is very cost effective to build and to live in.
