Four south-east Queensland businesses have been recognised as 'sustainability champions' in the ENERGEX Sustainable Building Awards at a special ceremony on the Gold Coast today.
Presenting the awards, Energy Minister John Mickel said "the awards encouraged property developers and commercial building owners and tenants to actively contribute to a sustainable future through being 'green' and profitable".
The four entrants were declared winners by a high-profile judging panel off envinonmental experts - Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Sustainable Industries Division Executive Director Dr John Cole, Australian Conservation Foundation President Ian Lowe, Queensland University of Technology Professor John Bell and property industry icon Robert Walker, Executive Director of the Property Council of Australia.
Supported by the EPA, solar energy system manufacturer Kyocera Solar and ENERGEX's earth's choice renewable energy, the Awards involved two categories - one for property developers and the other for building owners and tenants.
