Foldable, removable clothes dryer
An electric clothes dryer is one of the largest consumers of electricity in the home. According to the Australian Greenhouse Office, a typical clothes dryer, used once a week, adds 150 kilograms of greenhouse gases every year. One of the simplest ways a household can reduce energy consumption is install a clothesline.
SALA Homes now sells the lightweight Versaline clothes line. It can be attached almost anywhere for inside or outside drying and is easy to remove when you need the space. Read more…
Woodford whisperings
Did you catch SALA Homes’ Sales Manager Mike Duggan at this year’s Woodford Folk Festival? He was speaking in the Green House about sustainable strawbale, rammed earth and timber housing. There was a real buzz at Woodford, with lots of people talking about sustainability and environmental issues. It’s well worth the trip next year, if you haven’t been.
Under construction
At the beginning of 2007 it’s great to see there are currently over 30 SALA homes underway in various stages - from planning, council approval through to construction. We currently have homes being built right along the east coast – from Cooktown in the north to Bombala at the base of the Snowy Mountains, and lots of places in between. Some are using our standard designs while others have customised the standard designs to suit their own requirements. Contact us if you’d like to discuss how a SALA Home could suit your needs.

Rainforest Rescue
Here at SALA Homes we support Rainforest Rescue thanks to funds from our resource packs. To date, SALA Homes customers have saved 2400 square metres (as of Jan 31st) of the Daintree rainforest. This is great news – both for the forest, its creatures and the global climate.
Tropical trees are best
We were heartened to read of a recent study reported in the New Scientist magazine. Apparently, if trees are in the tropics, then investing in an ‘adopt a tree’ scheme may be more beneficial for climate change than tree planting in mid to high latitudes and boreal regions. Tour dates
On the third Sunday of every month we conduct tours of our display home at The Green in Logan. You'll spend an hour or two and learn the philosophy behind a SALA Home, see the design elements and get an insight into the products used in each house. The upcoming dates are 18 February and 18 March. Click here to book yourself on the next tour.
